Everett, Washington - Yesterday, Boeing completed testing on the new battery destined for approval, it was done during a demonstration flight for the FAA, using a production aircraft that is meant to be delivered to LOT Polish Airlines.
If Boeing gets good results from today's flight test, which demonstrated the new system can perform as as intended during normal flight conditions, they will surely proceed to submit the new system and new designs to the FAA and their Japanese counterparts, the JCAB (Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau) for approval.
If regulators approve the new design and new implementation, it is very likely that within the next two weeks, Boeing will issue a new service Bulletin to all present 787 operators, and likely will then regulatory authorities issue an airworthiness directive, paving the way for the resumption of flights by ANA and JAL.
