Southwest to fly Atlanta to Los Angeles

January 11th, 2012.

Today, Southwest Airlines announced plans to operate one new daily nonstop flight between Atlanta and Los Angeles beginning June 10, 2012. This will be in addition to the three daily flights operated by AirTran, Southwest's wholly-owned subsidiary. The new route will connect two destinations popular for both leisure and business. Flights can be booked via Southwest.com or airtran.com.

Southwest will begin service to Atlanta on February 12, 2012. Adding 15 daily nonstops to Baltimore/Washington, Chicago-Midway, Denver, Houston Hobby, and Austin. Additionally, on March 10 Southwest will add daily, nonstop service between Atlanta and Las Vegas, as well as Atlanta and Phoenix.

Adding Atlanta to the Southwest network means Southwest will add Georgia to its route map of 73 US Airports. This service will mostly complement AirTrans flights to Los Angeles and their flights from Atlanta to another 52 cities, both internationally and domestically.
